Pierre Muckensturm's [se croire carré] series, begun in 2023, is exemplified by this striking painting.
The large-scale minimalist work features bold black geometric forms against a white background, with strategically placed white rectangular elements creating a dynamic visual tension. The composition's deliberate asymmetry and imperfect geometry challenge the notion of the perfect square, traditionally revered in constructed art.

Muckensturm celebrates the beauty of imperfection rather than mathematical precision through this meticulous arrangement of contrasting forms.

The artwork's substantial scale amplifies its visual impact, inviting viewers to contemplate the tension between our human desire for perfection and life's natural irregularities. Just as we might try to "be square" in society, this artwork demonstrates that our "failed attempts" at conformity give us character and vitality.

Through its balanced yet imperfect geometry, the work conveys a powerful message: embrace incompleteness rather than pursuing an unattainable ideal.
